๐ Is FEAR Holding You Back? ๐
On Tuesday, I attended the Workforce Solutions Summit in Brampton, which was hosted by the Brampton Board of Trade in collaboration with the City of Brampton. It was an insightful day! Words like labour market recruitment, re-skilling and upskilling, hiring, micro-credentials, ageism, hiring resources, were heard throughout the presentations and panel discussions.
During one of the networking breaks, I met this lady who was regretting that she didn’t start her business five years ago, when she had the idea. Her problem: “I was taken overwhelmed with FEAR.”
Fear of failure; fear of what people would say; fear of leaving her then secure job (which she was laid off from), and a host of other fears.
She was forced to take the big leap in January, when she was laid off. She said, “I was thrown into the pool, and I had to learn how to swim!”
How about you? Is FEAR holding you back?
โDo you find yourself hesitating to take that significant career leap?
โIs imposter syndrome affecting the way you show up at work?
โDo you fear speaking up in important meetings?
It’s not uncommon to have these fears at various stages in your professional journey. But, remember, FEAR can mean two things: “Forget Everything and Run” or “Fear Everything and Rise.” The choice lies with you. ๐ช
Fear should not be a barrier, but rather a catalyst for growth. Each time you confront your fears, your confidence deepens, and you inch closer to that sought-after promotion. It’s important to believe in your capabilities.
Imposter syndrome might attempt to undermine your self-assurance, but you’ve earned your place through hard work and dedication. Your unique skills and qualities are assets, not flaws.
Take a chance on yourself and rise above the fear. Stand tall, and let this fear propel you forward. You have the power to overcome any challenges in your path.
