🪜Promotions are Hard to Come By 🚀
🗞 Bloomberg News reported this week that “Promotions are Hard to Come By” (https://bit.ly/45mop98
).
Although the focus is on entry-level roles, the fact is that people are not quitting their jobs as before. This leaves little room for others to move up.
The article states, “Among 68 million white-collar professionals, just 1.3% were promoted in the first three months of the year, the lowest rate for any first quarter in data going back five years.”
Even though the report points to the US, it could be the same for other job seekers outside of the US. So, here’s my general advice:
👋🏾 Wave it off! (Just like am doing in this video)! 🤪
😥 Don’t let that news dampen your spirits and prevent you from preparing for your next role.
“It’s better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one, than to have an opportunity and not be prepared.” (Whitney Young)
💼 Promotions may be challenging to secure, opportunities may be scarce, but stay focused on your roadmap and vision. Identify the steps needed to achieve your goals.
👉🏾 Engage with stakeholders, showcase your strengths, and continuously seek opportunities to add value.
💪🏾Stay persistent, strategic, and proactive in your approach
These tips will help to position you for future opportunities, regardless of the current landscape.
🗣 What say you?
