ππ½ββοΈπ·π½ββοΈIs a Good Worker Really Hard to Findβ
“When I get to work, the first thing I do is hide…
…because they say a good worker is hard to find!”
Is that true?
Is a good worker really hard to find?
Don’t know who came up with this quote, but my family and I had a good laugh when we read it over the weekend.
As humorous as this sound, the serious part is that buy into what polls, statistics and the news are saying about the ‘shortage of talent’, but…
ππ½Are good workers really hard to find?
What if we ask ourselves these questions:
ππ½Are hiring managers looking for them in the right places?
ππ½Are they using outdated recruitment practices?
ππ½Are they allowing certain ‘isms’ (racism, ableism, ageism, lookism, accent-ism), and other such ‘isms’ to cloud their better judgement?
ππ½Are they tapping into the pool of qualified, talented immigrants and internationally trained professionals ready to start on Day One?
ππ½Are they having career development conversations with their staff before they start looking outside?
ππ½Are they thinking of upskilling or reskilling their current employees to fill the talent gap?
Am asking these questions for the vast array of qualified candidates who are out there waiting for an opportunity!
Good workers are everywhere. Search for them in the right places, and give them a chance!
This post is dedicated to all the great workers who are hiding in plain sight, and…
To the 55-year old woman who is at a crossroads feeling that her age has become a barrier to her advancement!
