🤖 Many people are afraid of Artificial intelligence (AI) and what it might mean for their jobs and their lives.
You don’t need to be!
Chances are you are already immersed in AI technologies, namely Alexa, Google, and Siri.
If you have used any of the above, you have used AI, and there’s no need to be afraid!
“Don’t fear it, embrace it”, says Allison Hudson, Ed. D. and Veronica Ramsundar, associate professors and cofounders of Little Big Impact.
I had the pleasure of having Allison as a webinar host where she spoke on the topic, “Embracing an AI Mindset & Skillset for the Future of Work.”
She covered quite a bit, including AI’s capabilities, limitations, and ethics.
Liked how she referred to it as ‘augmented intelligence’ – it will work alongside us humans!
She also referred to the announcement by the Canadian Government of a $2.4 billion package to “secure Canada’s AI advantage”.
The announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office says, “These investments will accelerate job growth in Canada’s AI sector and beyond, boost productivity by helping researchers and businesses develop and adopt AI, and ensure this is done responsibly.”
“Governments and businesses should invest in supporting the shift to the jobs of the future through the education, reskilling and social support structures that can ensure individuals are at the heart of the future of work”, said Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director, World Economic Forum.
The World Economic Forum Future Jobs Report 2023, states that “employers expect most technologies to contribute positively to job creation.
My perspective on the topic is that it’s not all doom and gloom. While it’s true that some jobs may be replaced by machines in the future, there will always be a need for human creativity. AI is not going to replace us; it’s going to help us do our jobs better and more efficiently.
Are you willing to embrace this exciting new technology and all the possibilities that it brings? I am!
