IBMโs CEO recently confirmed that the company replaced several hundred HR employees with AI, and that the companyโs total workforce grew.
Why? Because AI freed up resources that IBM redirected into hiring more software engineers, marketers, and salespeopleโroles that require critical thinking and human interaction.
And here’s how they did it:
They used their internal AI tools: AskHR automated 94% of routine HR tasks such as vacation requests and pay statements. Their AskIT agent reduced IT support calls and chats by 70%.
๐ฐ The result? A $3.5 billion productivity boost over two years.
The company didn’t say how many of the laid off employees were rehired, but chances are it wasn’t a lot.
What’s happening at IBM and many other companies is frightening, but it’s a peek into the future. ๐ญ
