Did I tell you how I changed my career trajectory, and haven’t looked back?
I was stuck in a bind, just like many of you. The promotions weren’t coming. I had applied for roles I was more than qualified for, but they always went to someone less qualified.
The one that really hit me was being told I was “a close second”. That’s after interviewing for a corporate affairs position. I was confident that my qualifications and exceptional performance reviews would secure the role. After all, I had previously worked in public relations.
Well, the position went to someone with significantly less qualification, experience and a shorter tenure at the company.
This one was crushing and made me question my abilities and the fairness of the corporate world. I felt like all my hard work and late evenings didn’t matter.
I doubted myself for months, but decided not to let this setback control my future. I hired a career coach, whose expertise helped me rebuild my confidence and focus on my strengths. With this new perspective, I looked for opportunities that fit my skills and passions.
Entrepreneurship, teaching and career coaching came calling. This new blended path reignited my passion and inspired me to support people facing their own career challenges.
If you’re feeling stuck or uncertain in your career, let’s connect.
I’d love to help you walk on your own path to success.
BTW, I am hosting a free training next Wednesday titled Own Your Voice: Building Confidence and Influence at Work. Come and hang with me, and learn some confidence-building strategies.
