The Wright Career Solution

How did it go?

How did it go?

Quite well!

Last Saturday, I hosted the “Set Your Career Compass for the Year Ahead” webinar, and 👏🏽👏🏽, it was great! Of the 22 individuals who registered, 13 attended (which fits the 50% average, I guess).

But, let’s not become fixated on numbers. Often, we find ourselves disheartened when an advertised event sees only a fraction of expected attendees or when a social media post doesn’t garner the expected likes; numbers that shape our online and offline experiences. 🙋🏽‍♀️.

We begin to compare ourselves to others, robbing ourselves of the joy of an experience, and missing out on possible opportunities. When we do this, we are minimizing the value that those who show up bring.

What if we stop agonizing over those who didn’t show up, or the 7 likes or comments that we got on a post, and shift our focus to the small positives?

If I may say so myself, we had a great time on Saturday, and here are some of the positive things that I and others would’ve missed:

When asked what they hoped to get from the presentation, some responses were:

👉🏽A better sense of direction for the year ahead in
terms of my career trajectory.

👉🏽Career Pivot – what’s the best way to brand oneself.

👉🏽Continually challenging myself and raising the bar.

👉🏽Looking for clarity and inspiration.

👉🏽I want to make a career change, but I don’t know how to handle my branding.

👉🏽Meaningful, purposeful work.

When asked about their key takeaways after the session, these were some responses:

✔️Seeing Step 7, helps to reinforce the journey that I need to continue to remain OPEN to the varying new opportunities and to embrace the challenges more.

✔️Developing my personal board of directors.

✔️Working on a growth mindset. Developing my personal board of directors. Consistency, and that I should trust the process.

✔️Being intentional about the journey, smart about the goal setting and continuous with the work.

✔️Stop being stuck in the wilderness and reach into our pocket and pull that compass out so it will direct us in the direction to achieve our goals.

✔️One person left this voice message “My dad was listening and he said you are a positive person who has positiveness oozing from you.” Eh-em!

✔️And, I ended up with several new people in my network, including a participant from Chicago!

Those are wins in my book!

So, note to self and to anyone who sometimes feel lost in the social media space, there’s hope! Let’s celebrate the small things for the value they bring to our daily conversations and interactions and relish each meaningful engagement.
